Nearly $400,000 was allocated to assist the organizations leading the rebuilding efforts in areas where the largest numbers of Mary Kay independent sales force members live.
Mary Kay China began its involvement with this program in 2002 through the All China Women’s Federation. It encourages Mary Kay independent sales force members to assist their local schools. For example, Independent Beauty Consultants and employees have assisted in Kunming Female Middle School in Yunnan Province. In 2003, Mary Kay China and its sales force donated to the Spring Bud Project in ten provinces, providing financial assistance to more than 500 female students. This generosity allowed the girls to return to school. Mary Kay China and the independent sales force currently support 850 school girls attending 17 schools throughout China.
Operation Smile is one of the most well-known and beloved projects of Mary Kay Russia. Together, the Company and the independent sales force raise funds to support Operation Smile, a non-profit organization that is known for lending highly qualified surgical assistance to children who are born with facial deformities. To date, more than 2,000 Russian children have received medical services free of charge in Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Petrozavodsk, Kazan, and Vladimir. In addition, Mary Kay Russia cooperates with the Cosmetics, Surgery and Cosmetology Institute of the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, and contributes funds for free operations for children with facial injuries.
In addition to Operation Smile, Mary Kay Russia employees also take time to visit orphanages each year and hand out gifts to the children. They also present gifts of Mary Kay® products to those who care for the children at the orphanages.
Mary Kay Kazakhstan has been passionate about children’s charities during the last six years, and the office was recently recognized by the First Lady of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Sara Nazyrbayeva.
